Movie starts with a narration to explaining the power of Love and nature of world. The story turns around two different worlds. In our world, Anushka (Ramya) fall in love with Arya (Madhu Balakrishana) who is a socially responsible kindly person. She proposes her feeling to Arya (Madhu), but he doesn’t accept her love.

Creative people have courage and conviction. It is no doubt that Selvaraghavan has got it in loads. Let's hope that he gets his execution right in his future movies. For now, Varna is just an expensive experiment with unintended consequences.

What this director tried to convey? There is something beyond our understanding. Common audience will not like this movie but we need to see whether critical thinkers can understand it. Pale narration, poor establishment and introduction made audience sleepy. Simply, a bheja fry. Visual effects are really good and only visual effects are good. They made audience feel as if they are in other world. Like they said, yeah, its truly a VFX extravaganza. It seems, Raghavan might have borrowed few animals from Cameroon's Avataar. Poor camera work at few places. Pictures were out focused. No, you may thing it as a recent trend and technique but truly there are few flaws.

Overall,an un-conventional flick from the director and the producer. This will not fit the bill.A routine movie goer will not at all like this movie. If at all you do not have any other work, feeling bored over the week-end,you can give a try.

Infact Director started the story well with Madhu and Ramya romantic track. Story seems interesting but soon you would glide in between two world in between tracks. Till intermission story revolves at the same spot. In the second half story is completely out of track. Characterisation also has many flaws. Its not correct if we think Varna is courageous as it was restricted to only few scenes. Mahendra seemed to be coward, suddenly appears as a warrior. Ramya is a character without importance. Both the roles of Anushka has serious looks. Both the world’s people looked alike. Only the fight with lion is interesting. So spending 60 Crores seems a suicidal attempt.

Varna starts with a quote that tells us that there are many worlds in this universe, and people like us could exist in any of these worlds, and people who die do not necessarily depart us. The film's plot involves two romances — one that is set in our world and the other in a fantastical world. How one of these love stories inspires the other and what true love can do to a person is what the film is all about.

Selva Raghavan came with a story that is near to tamil nativity. While the first half with its slow pace may be loved by Tamil viewers, it will be testing for Telugu movie lovers. The entire love track has tamil flavour which will be hard to digest for Telugu viewers. While viewers crave for action from another world it never unfolds with the slow pace testing the patience.

Varna is a colorful film with great visuals. But it lacks soul. In spite of Anushka’s graceful screen presence, on-par-with-Hollywood visual effects, never-before story, outstanding cinematography, amazing sword fights; Varna has ended up as another below average flick due to Selva Raghavan’s inability in handling this complicated subject. Dragging narration and illogical episodes have ruined Varna further. If you are a fan of Anushka’s sword fights, you can wait for Rudramadevi and Baahubali.

The film is copy massive movie like Avatar. Director tried to interlink two worlds and two love stories, he tried to keep as many links as possible as per his thought process, not bothering about the normal spectator in front of the screen. Story seems interesting but soon you would glide in between two worlds in between tracks.

Forgetting the slow pace in the first half, though it was bearable, he missed the plot in the second half. Finally he was not sure on how to end the film. He planned to connect it like Hollywood flick Avatar and though he has the backing of high technology, week screenplay and direction spoiled everything. Anushka's role is not chalked out properly as a warrior and connection between two worlds is not at all convincing.

Overall, this is a film which has been made with a lot of confusion and lack of clarity. At the box office, this will sink without a trace.Don’t even think about it

A good production house with deep pockets was taken for a ride by the director with a farcical script and atrocious screenplay. Films like ‘Varna’ are a rarity. They fall into the ‘never before, never again’ category. Film school students must be forced to watch this film. Perhaps, Christopher Nolan can also take a look as this film has a lot more ‘depth’ compared to ‘Inception’.

As per general audience and commercial BO standards, ‘Varna’ has no value. This remains as a Deluxe Plush product with Flushed Out budget and impoverished Content from a Passionate director. Lack of strength in explaining the key story matter and flat-out usage of cinematic liberties made ‘Varna’ watching a tedious exercise. Definite accolades for Selva in selecting a new backdrop for painting an old portrait of Love. It’s the missing of Entertainment like ‘7/G Brindavan Colony’ or the strong execution like ‘Yuganiki Okkadu’ made ‘Varna’ a banal movie.

It is far easier to understand a film like ‘Inception’ when compared to ‘Varna’. The director has come up with an good idea and spoiled completed in script. The parallel universe concept is novel and it could have been used quite well. Arya looks quite bad in the film, especially as Mahendra. He just sleepwalks through the role, but you can’t really blame him for that.

Varna is such a film, which will puke you with its 'creativity' and gives you a migraine and haunts you forever with its unbearable torture. Just stay away from this one or else you will regret it forever.

the script is shabby and terribly executed. The entire plot gets revealed in the first hour and Selva fails to engage the audiences with the proceedings. Screenplay is pathetic and the character developments are quite weak. Also the two stories are loosely connected that the feel goes totally missing. Added to it, the lip sync goes missing for the Telugu version which further tests the patience.

The plot of the movie is about pure love between two lovers Anushka and Arya but it is not properly established. Characterization is weak and many weird characters are shown in the other world as it is director’s creative world in which creativity worked in low web. Altogether the movie is a costly experiment with a lot of graphics to balance the screenplay that is very dull.

Varna, which starts off as an impressive fare slowly fizzles out and loses steam. The story is as baffling as its execution and one might wonder why the director did not work on bettering the story with the immense resources at his disposal. Both the actors have ample screen-time and they do put their best foot forward. Arya does well to portray both the characters and Anushka is more comfortable as Varna.

The list of questions are many but here are a few for Raghava- what was he trying to convey? Where exactly is the story? Is there a plot to it? What is the purpose behind making this film? To give few grace points, he used his imagination and came up with fantasy planets (albeit with humans like us) and creatures which are quite robotic. For those who have seen ‘Avatar’ all this is nothing.

Have you ever felt like there is a after life? Had a case of Déjà vu? Felt like you have seen something after you lost it but you aren’t sure where? Varna is a flick brought to you by PVP cinema, kind of postulates this and much more. The film has a little bit of everything from the serious philosophical questions to some funny action episodes - feeless romance and a dash of gore.

Two confused worlds, one heard of twin brothers, twin sisters have you ever heard of twin universes well then you need to watch 'Varna' how universe has a twin brother/sister.Only thing common in both the universes is our own Anushka and Arya.Coming to the most confused story ever on South indian screen here it is in the real world we have Anushka and Arya deeply in love with each other.

The computer graphics look mostly unimpressive unless the viewer wants to give grace points for the effort made by the actor. The overall output is a far cry from what our audience may have already experienced in scores of Hollywood movies that relinquishes every week.

Seems director of the movie Selvaraghava tried to be like “Indian James Cameron” by creating other world like Avatar. But he failed in many areas. We never understand what he wants to tell to audiences. He created other world. But you can understand the people who are there. You never feel that your there in the other world except sky because he filled with few unseen Planets with different colors.

Everything about the movie is slow, exaggerated and the characters are just puppets in his hands. Dialogues are pathetic and actors have a whale of time in the fancy period costumes. Background score doesn’t gel. Avoid this film and look for love elsewhere.
