Ram Charan, as the brooding policeman, excels in action. His dark eyes with long lashes adeptly convey anger. Sanjay Dutt is competent and lovable. Priyanka looks smashing but is overzealous in the American Born Desi Gujarati Girl act. The climax, shot against the backdrop of a Moharram procession, is interesting
Rating: 3.25/5
Do not compare this movie with the original classic(Amitabh’s Zanjeer). They are two very different movies. Charan has given a power packed performance and the film has its moments. A crisp runtime also helps matters. A better script and a higher dose of entertainment would have really helped matters. Still, the movie ends up as a decent cop drama.

Thoofan is powerful police drama. ram charan did powerful performance as cop. don't compare this movie with old amitab zanzeer. some good dose of entertainment would help the film in making wonders. even though you may watch this movie because of its good pace and short run time.
Rating: 3.0/5
There could be any number of reasons for sweeping this film off, and the slow paced manner in which the story unfolds, does play a major discouragement. Songs with the manner in which they have been integrated into the tale, simply should not be there. There is the script too that is a depressant, and it has very few heart pumping moments.
Rating: 3.0/5
Thoofan definitely is a good action drama with high voltage performance from Charan and racy screenplay by Apoorva Lakhia. Miss of fun quotient and few loopholes in the script, are the major blows for the movie. However, the other elements work well to make the ‘Thoofan’ a paisa vasool movie. The movie also has few good moments to enthrall mass fans of Mega family.
Rating: 3.0/5
Mega power star Ram Charan has shipped energy packed performance. He looks good like a cop and that he has squeeze into the smoothness of ACP Vijay Khanna quite effortlessly. This movie is a very good debut vehicle for Charan’s Bollywood career. Priyanka Chopra is alright. She looks pretty hot within the ‘Mumbai Ke Hero’ and ‘Pinky’ tunes. Ram Charan has given wonderful performance here. There is no comparison to the Zanjeer here. Definitely Toofan is a worthy watch for this weekend.

Ram Charan Tej who also debuted with this movie in Bollywood with 'Zanjeer', the Hindi remake of the old Amitabh Bachchan starrer, bares his chest, flexes his muscles, shows his anger all through, and in one of the songs declares himself to be the hero of Mumbai. Time will tell.
Rating: 3.0/5
Overall,an Okay film. Can watch this one ONCE,with out any kind of expectations.Just like a time pass kinda movie.Ram Charan will get a decent break/entry in to Bollywood with this one.Should wait and see how the B & C centers react to this kinda routine action flick.
Rating: 3.0/5
The music of the movie is so ordinary and the re-recording of the movie is also not up to the mark. The song placements in the movie is so bad especially the “Mumbai Ke Hero Song”.When compared to the original “Zanjeer” ,the movie lacks screen play and the story plot also predicatble. The romantic scenes between Ramcharan and Priyanka are not up to the mark.
Rating: 3.0/5
Thoofan is complete action oriented film which managed ram charan to maintain that hype all the way on screen. His dances and his cop appearance looks stylish. Priyanaka Chopra is good in her looks and performed well in her limited role and her oomph factor will attract many mass audience. Prakash Raj continued his conventional villain-ism with Teja’s character, his role will impress as he is perfect in maintaining a coolness in Mafia roles. Tanikella Bharini is good in his role. Mahi Gill is better in the songs than scenes, she munificently exposed her beauty.
Rating: 2.75/5
Forget about it, this Zanjeer/Toofan can never be the old classic, Zanjeer. Blame it on the director, Toofan is at most a routine revenge story with technical flaws in it. But Ram Charan definitely leavs his mark on the character. Try it if you have nothing to do.
Rating: 2.75/5
The first half of the film is decent comedy and powerful entrance of Cherry and Second half looks bang in the theater with most of the action packed scenes. There are counter punches in Ram Charan and Prakash Raj confrontation scenes where the fans can feel the power. Apoorva Lakhia could have concentrated in better way in presentation point of view. He tried to narrate the same old version in new wine bottle adding extra quotients to create hype for the action scenes.
Rating: 2.75/5
Simply put, Toofan is not a typical Charan film, though he is perfect as the angry cop. Telugu audiences will miss the romance and comedy that are a huge plus for any film. Still, Toofan sails through. Music, cinematography and editing adds to the proceedings but do not stand out. The song 'Mumbai ke Hero' is, however, very good. Despite not having the same pull as Pawan Kalyan's or Jr NTR's songs online, the song is well presented. Both Charan and Priyanka look hot in it.
Rating: 2.75/5
'Thoofan' gets the first one right, but fails terribly at 2 and 3. Overall, 'Thoofan' is neither too exciting nor too boring, but a promising debut for Charan. If you have a choice, prefer the Hindi version, as the Telugu version might seem like a Hindi dubbed serial telecasted in the Telugu channels these days.
Rating: 2.75/5
Another big minus for this flick is dubbing look.It appears like a Hindi movie dubbed in Telugu. Nativity is missing. How beautiful a girl may be, if camera doesn’t show her beautifully, all her beauty gets wasted. Priyanka Chopra is not an exception to that rule. Priyanka appears as aunty to Charan. The whole movie runs in a single mood. It may be suitable for Bollywood audience but not for Telugu audience. We need all elements like glamour and comedy in a movie. Both are missing in this movie. The only relief in the movie is double meaning dialogues between Prakashraj and vamp.
Rating: 2.5/5
Director Apoorva Lakhia stuck to the original and didnot make even small changes. He completely forgot genex youth while taking the film. Placement of songs are bad and he didnot pay attention to strong romantic thread or humour. Probably he after other remakes bombing at Bollywood box office played safe. This in a way turned out to be one positive. A little bit of imagination would have worked wonders for the film as even dialogues looked quite state.
Rating: 2.5/5
The predictable and routine story along with lack of romance and humour are the minus points. He did not try to evoke interest in the film by trying to be different according to the expectations of younger generation. He even failed to place the songs in a perfect manner. However with all the drawbacks, the film will perform beyond expectations due to Ram Charan's powerful performance on debut. But there is nothing to cheer for mega fans as his deadly dancing moves and powerful dialogues are sorely missed.
Rating: 2.5/5
Thoofan is made on the modern day settings, but nothing works for the film. The writing is bad and the direction is poor while screenplay has loose ends. Misplacement of songs is another negative aspect of the film. Few action sequences and Ram Charan-Prakash Raj would entertain the mass masala movie lovers. Romantic scenes between Ram Charan and Priyanka Chopra could’ve been better
Rating: 2.5/5
Usually telugu audience expect a powerful introduction for any mass following hero. But director apoorva broke the rule and failed to impress the audience with a very plain protagonist entrance. His screen play and story narration were just like a serial. He might have forgotten adding salt and spice in his food. And that is why it lost its yumminess. Coming to the characters, the role of sharekhan played by srihari is the most powerful character in the film. It would be much more better if srihari plays the role of protagonist.
Rating: 2.5/5
Telugu version is looking like dubbed version zero comedy very serious movie Attempt is good but failed in execution Director failed to Remake classic movie Telugu version is not Impressive and Telugu audience may not Enjoy it Except mumbai hero all the songs are Not upto the mark one time watch movie
Rating: 2.5/5
Throughout the film, we sense the director’s immense affection for the original Zanjeer, a reverence that never clouds his judgment. This is one remake that stands tall and lithe. It is manned by a manful supply of action and yet manages to keep the machismo understated. Breakneck-paced, adrenaline-pumping, pulse-pounding

Ram Charan’s angry cop is more like a brooding cop, with stock expressions. He is good in a few scenes and has done the action ones well. One expected a lot more from Priyanka Chopra, but she is just about okay and good in the songs. The rest of the cast is adequate. Even if you watch Thoofan as it is, and not compare it with the original Zanjeer, you may find it runs short of expectations and lacks soul.
Rating: 2.5/5
The movie is too predictable, once can easily guess whats going to happen next. The movie is entirely different to the older version of "Zanjeer", this movie cannot be called a remakeLove episodes between Ram Charan and Priyanka Chopra were poorly shotMusic is a major dissappointment for the film. The placement of the songs were also very poor. Editing was just ok, Cinematography was also mediocre

Mega Powerstar Ram Charan selecting a minimum guarantee project for his launch in Bollywood is fine. But Apoorva Lakhia failed to keep the essence of a classic film, but adds inn more style and drama to it. The chemistry between the lead pair is not convincing, Apoorva failed to engage audience with Vijay and Sher Khan’s larger than life conversations in this remake. As it’s a remake of a classic film, director should have taken necessary precautions in narrating script in engrossing manner as everyone knows the storyline. Apoorva Lakhia didn’t spoil the original, but failed to picture the film in classic way.
Rating: 2.0/5
No excuses, putting it straight and slapping…Toofan is a disastrous washout film which Ramcharan shouldn’t have selected. I think, the same would be applied to Bollywood version ‘Zanjeer’ because Apoorva Lakhia hasn’t spared even one scene in the movie from his disgusting treatment. If Mega Fans have any questions, just blame it on Apoorva and the dead confidence why Charan has shown on this director?
Rating: 2.0/5
Overall, the film doesn’t deliver to expectations and ended up as a dud. Like Komarum Puli for Pawan Kalyan, this Thoofan stands as an unforgettable knockout blow in the career of Ram Charan.
Rating: 2.0/5
Thoofan fails to engage the audience at any point of time. It starts off on a dull note and maintains the same throughout the first hour. It will be a big test to sit through the first half as there is nothing worth a watch. Second half seems a bit better than the first half, only because of the torture that we have been put through in the first hour.
Rating: 2.0/5
The film happens to be the Telugu version of the film Zanjeer and it also marks the debut of Ram Charan in Bollywood. But given the hype and expectation, the film is nowhere near meeting. Mainly, the plot was tepid and the execution was not that gripping. The first half goes about with regular elements of action, some romance while the second half continues the same thing. Overall, this is a film which has nothing great except some branded stars.
Rating: 1.5/5
With such dumb, bimbo, caricature, sleep walker, cardboard and intelligent characters created/designed there is only one way the remake is headed to. Now when you think about it, it isn’t a wonder really that the director/maker didn’t get all this because only a person who really possesses all those qualities could have come up with it. And yet there is someone else who could be all those and even more.
Rating: 1.0/5
"Thoofan" isn't even an experiment, but it displays the recklessness of Apoorva Lakhia, who desperately tries to make his film better than the original, but fails miserably.

Coming to the performances first, Ram Charan has completely adopted Bollywood style and has executed his style of acting in a new look. And Priyanka Chopra has only a glamourous role which is boring in some scenes. The chemistry between both didnt match up well. Sri Hari’s role is small simple and not much attractive. Prakash Raj as usualattracted with his villianism. Every artist portrayed their respective roles well but Charan has done something special for his bollywood debut.

Thoofan is synonymous with rage, if only Ram Charan had shown more intensity and fire in his eyes, he would have passed muster. The film has been sharply edited and cinematography is reasonably good. Dialogues don’t elevate the story and the lack of emotion becomes very visible as and when a flashback of a traumatic childhood appears intermittently, the cop appears cool, callous and not driven to score a point. Also the director brings in a song at an inappropriate place.
Rating: --
This is one remake that stands tall and lithe. It is manned by a manful supply of action and yet manages to keep the machismo understated. Breakneck-paced, adrenaline-pumping, pulse-pounding -- Lakhia's deconstructed version of the Prakash Mehra film is a full-on pacy paisa-vasool entertainer with brio and balls. Ram Charan Teja makes an impressive Bollywood debut. We can safely say he is the man among the boys.
Rating: --
If you watch the film without watching the earlier Zanjeer, this film would be good. Moreover, the director failed to maintain emotional bond between Ram Charan and Srihari's characters. Like other Telugu films in which Ram Charan played, this Hindi movie failed in maintaining the mass masala scenes and punch dialogues. However, with the director maintaining a less run time the film appeared very compact and good.
Rating: --
To be blunt, Thoofan is a poor remake of Zanjeer. In spite of great performances, the film fails to hold your interest, thanks to Apoorva’s poor narration. Lack of entertainment and mass elements will work against Thoofan. Ram Charan’s image may save the film as it did with Racha and Naayak.
