It has been a long time since families have come to theatres to watch a movie. In fact such type of movies are not coming. Adishankara fills that gap. Adishankara’s life is an inspiration for youth. He has shown what can be achived even at a tender age. If youth comes forward and watches this movie, more such good movies will come in the future.
Rating: 3.0/5
Director Bharavi must be complimented for taking up the subject and try to show Adi Sankara's teachings and its relevance in today's context. His dialogues are good and worth mentioning. He sent message to people and even to rulers how they should be ruled get ruled. He sent message to youth that they could do anything and everything.

‘Jagadguru Adishankara’ is a film that will appeal to elderly people and folks who are devotionally inclined. The Box Office prospects might not be very bright. You may watch the film if you like serious devotional offerings.
Rating: 3.0/5
Though the movie has a perfect compilation problem, as the director is a debutante, marks can be given for his extraordinary thought for turning out a saint’s story into a youth provoking one. Visual effects, animation are used abundantly. Songs in the movie are said to be a great fetch.
Rating: 3.0/5
The film starts of slowly but picks up pace later. Second half romance of Upendra and Kamna is given more importance. Bharavi’s dialogues, screeenplay and direction is quite good. However many wondered why Chandala was shown without dogs!Advaita philosophy is not shown in full force.
Rating: 3.0/5
This is an average story for the youth but some youth who are in a deep devotional they will give 100% marks to this movie over all it’s an average flick from J. K. Bharavi.
Rating: 2.75/5
The movie starts with the narration of Megastar Chiranjeevi about the birth of Adi Shankara and the social discrimination of then society. Though the first 45 minutes of the movie runs with a slow pace, it picks up momentum when Shankara and Kapalika's clash happens. In the second half, romantic track between Sriram Chandra and Kamna Jethmalani is dominated rather devotion. On a whole, the performances of the artists and good screen play are good. On the flip side, some of the cinematic liberties have been taken by the director. For instance, Chandala has not been accompanied by four dogs, as in the original story their role is important. Moreover, Shankara's philosophy of 'Advaitha' should have been conveyed well. In the second half, it appeared, romantic track is dominated rather devotion.

The lead actor Kaushik is an absolute disaster who when not looking dazed, looks intensely agitated. He neither has the screen presence nor the acting ability to carry off such a role. The gaudy make up and tacky music and special effects only worsen matters.

Story, Screenplay, dialogues, and direction these four departments are shouldered by J.K. Bharavi. His research on story and meaningful dialogues are very good but he did not take more care in screenplay part. With a good intention to explore everything about Adi Shankara, J.K. Bharavi has forgotten that it will slow down the flow of the movie. In direction section Raghavendra Rao has set a bar and JK did not reach even half to that. Nagasri music did not give any strength instead it weakness the movie. Editor should have chocked few scenes in the movie and cinematography was fine.

It takes a lot of challenge and courage to come up with a story based on a spiritual Guru because it involves lot of research and ability to educate the audience in today’s time. The director has come up with a good job in that aspect and showed his level of knowledge. The first half revolves around the early stages of the Jagadguru while the second half revolves around his quest that changed India’s religious face.

Kaushik, who is debuting as actor, has delivered brilliant performances. He has played the title role of Adhishankara in the film for which he has tried to do 100% justice. He will definitely impress the viewers.
