On the whole, Paathshala is quite a different and sensible film in this day and age. It nicely showcases the problems and aspirations of the youth in a decent and entertaining manner. On the flip side, lack of known faces and a pretty slow and emotional second half spoils the fun to an extent.

Paathshala is all about choosing passion over obligations. It’s about fighting the inner demons. It’s a road film that has a few good moments. First half of the film is engaging. But the second half is pretty slow and a few of things become repetitive. On a whole, Paathshala is a different attempt and is aimed at sensible viewers.

The film “Paathshala” has proper structure to make a perfect coming of age tale. It is quite a different and sensible film in this day and age. The movie nicely showcases the aspirations and problems of the youth in a decent and entertaining manner. But the main problem lies in its execution, which goes in a slow pace. Better casting would have surely created a better impact. If one is in a mood to watch a different attempt, then one might give it a chance.

Watch it for a fun filled first half and a novel concept. It might give you a relief from regular mass masala films. By the way, when it is a story of college (Kalaasala) students, why is it titled as Paathasala(School)? Watch it and let us know if you get the logic behind it.

Ten minutes into the story, there are hints that the film is beyond redemption and it continues to tumble down the rabbit hole. Gopi Ganesh, the director of the film, makes good use of Ravi Teja and Ali's cameos for comic relief, but after a point, it's also clear that the joke is on us.

It is a sprawling story with many characters, introducing one character after another to fill the screen time; this makes it a tedious watch. Perhaps more romance would have added some spark to the story, this one is hurried and a bit superficial. Just because the story unfolds on the road trip, we cannot call it fresh. What basically is missing is a bond amongst the five in the vehicle. They are all fighting, laughing, there are tears too but the body language doesn't suggest so. It is more like a friendship that develops in a shared auto where people get in, break into small talk and then disperse.
