A story of 1980s basing on true incidents has been narrated in a good way. But the essence of grudge and revenge went lagging somewhere. The film goes on with a very slow pace with pale narration. Sri Praveen (director) took good amount of time to establish the plot and failed to drive audience into the story. He has devoted maximium amount of time for songs rather concentrating on his conflict.

Factually, this movie tested the patience of audience. Chaitanya Krishna did his performance with good ease. Few emotions made audience roll out tears too. Songs, music and BGM were awesomely scored by Nandan. Chandini, though it is her debut film in Telugu, acted very well. Fights look natural and camera work is appreciable. The only thing that ruined the minds of audience is Story lagging.

From the time the film was announced it created a good hype and even the stills had created an impact. It takes off on a good note and gives a nostalgic feel with elements of rural romance and violence. The interval bang was neat and the real story begins in the second half. The ending was somewhat abrupt but the overall feel was okay. At the box office, this will appeal to serious and thinking audience and if word of mouth is strong it can score success.

The problem you have with the movie is the director's attempt to create suspense at some places. You feel cheated and taken for a ride. The narration is a bit convoluted but the only thing that keeps you glued to the screen are the visuals. It is not a 'just for laughs' movie at all as there's absolutely no comedy - and there was hardly any scope for that. Any attempt to introduce forced comedy or what they call a 'comedy track' would have spoilt the movie. The movie looked fresh with the 80s era.

Priyamani has acted well in action scenes and emotional scenes and some of her punch dialogues like ‘Samudram lo ala ni chudu, silent ga untadi..Tsunami ni chudaki, violent ga untadi’ were good. Krishnam Raju and Sharath Kumar has done their respective roles very well. Posani’s role and anthakshari of cops and gangsters were not impressive. Many problems prevailing in the society were projected and how villagers are being cheated and becoming homeless with SEZ’s was the centre point of the movie.

Commercially, a project of this genre can do partially good in Tollywood only if director can add that conviction utilizing the strong topographical edge to the rugged script. The thought of Sri Prawin to follow Anurag Kashyap was acceptable. At the same time, he should have given the proper attention on the kind of screenplay and story flow maintained by him in both the parts of ‘Gangs of Wasseypur.’ Definitely, there is a lot missing herein every department. Finally, ‘Kalicharan’ is a good attempt which has totally gone wrong.
