First half of the film is nice and second half is slow. Mani Ratnam has projected hero character with flaws. People who except sweet romance between lead pair might get disappointed. It’s a visual poetry by Mani Ratnam. There are only two kinds of reactions for this movie. You will love it if you connect to it. You hate it if you don’t connect with it. I belong to the category that connected to the movie. I loved it. I recommend this film, but not to everybody (as it’s not meant for for people who wants to see only lovey-dovey romance in a Mani Rathnam’s movie)! Brace yourself for some realism in love!!

Cheliyaa is one film which will surely draw mixed reactions. While one section of the audience will just love Mani Ratnam’s romance and taking, the regular audience will find it very hard to enjoy this serious romantic drama. Karthi and Aditi Rao’s sizzling chemistry, entertaining first half are basic assets. But the slow and slightly dragged second half makes things a bit difficult. On the whole, all those who like slow but emotional romantic dramas can surely give this film a shot but for others, Cheliyaa is just an average film this weekend.

We know that love is in the air, when it’s Maniratnam’s movie. Even though Cheliya has great romantic moments, the parallel serious track doesn’t compliment it. The confusion of Karthi’s characterisation is the one which pinches audience more. The first half is all thumps up with the romance, pacy scenes that work out so well but that second half is one which is bringing all the mixed responses!

Mani Ratnam made this Cheliyaa with his mark poetry written in every frame and scene with the help of high technical values but failed and made as a disappointment fare by none other than Mani Ratnam again.
Rating: 2.5/5
Cheliya's lack of clarity leave all confused.Even youngsters and people in love feel it tedious to watch the film patiently. Maniratnam's fans will love every bit of it as many scenes come from the heart and touch the soul. Maniratnam's story is OK and screenplay and direction which reached highs in the first half, touched rock bottom in the second half.

Cheliya opens with a fight sequence between Indian army and Pakistan army where air pilot Varun (Karthi) is kidnapped by the Pakistan army. But, we are given an insight into the story as - the battle between two hearts.

Aditi Rao Hydari Steals The Show.‘Cheliyaa’ is visually and artistically a typical Mani Ratnam film. Content and execution wise, it’s just below average and surely opens with a widely divided talk. Commercial run is also doubtful. Cheliyaa rating goes with 2.25 stars from Cinejosh just for Aditi and Ravi Varman.
Rating: 2.0/5
Himsaaro!Although Karthi and Aditi have given their best and cinematographer Ravi Varman stole the show, the movie comes a cropper. All in all, "Cheliyaa" is totally tedious and boring watch.
Rating: 2.0/5
Cheliyaa is just an average movie, based on love and war. Background music and Cinematography are the major assets. First half of the movie is good but the second half is very slow. The movie lovers who expect sweet romance between lead pair, might get disappointed. Cheliyaa is best for them who want to watch glorious visuals.

The perfect mix of Love and War ! Maniratnam, AR Rahman and Vairamuthu's combo had worked very well in Cheliya. Watch the romantic movie this weekend and have a superb feeling of love that is built in you.
Rating: 2.0/5
Cheli'yawn' Cheliyaa is half baked and underdeveloped. It is just an idea made into a film without putting in efforts on the writing table. The result is a painful, boring and torturous romantic drama that will force you to walk away in the middle.
Rating: 2.0/5
Not so Magical.
Rating: 1.5/5
Cheliya ends up as a Mixed Affair. Mani Ratnam's trademark visual framing is alluring but the narration/content are not at all engaging. Particularly the boring Second half is a rogue. Try it if you are a fan of Mani Ratnam films.

Mani Ratnam Disappoints his fans yet again.AR Rahman's music and nice technical values are plus points to the movie. Although the first half is breezy and nice second half plays the spoil sport .Kaarthi and Aditi have done justice to the roles, but ManiRatnam must come up with something refreshing rather than same old love stories with average storylines which might not appeal to todays movie lovers.
